Matt Baer

Matt is a Partner at BioStratis. He brings 18 years of experience in biopharma, medical devices, and digital health tech. He was formerly a Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting (PwC) where he advised senior leaders in product launch, commercial strategy, and operating models. Prior to that, he worked at Medtronic developing marketing strategies and value propositions for advanced surgical devices, and at a start-up medical diagnostic company. He has led large teams and worked with senior executives at 30+ companies across the healthcare ecosystem to launch new assets, optimize growth, scale up organizations, and execute high priority customer engagement initiatives in the evolving market landscape.

 

In addition to strategy experience, Matt has deep expertise in driving cross-functional teamwork (commercial, R&D, digital, BD, operations, etc.) and developing structured project plans, forecast models, and customer engagement tactics for physicians, hospitals, health systems, payers, and patients.

 

Matt earned his MBA in Business Strategy with a focus in Healthcare from Yale School of Management, and his BA in Cognitive Neuroscience from Yale University.

Vikas is a Partner at BioStratis. He brings 20+ years of experience in Strategy, M&A and commercial leadership roles in Life Sciences across Biopharma, Diagnostics and Genomics. Prior to BioStratis he was Vice President, Business Development & Strategy at Ambry Genetics (now Tempus) where he led Corporate Strategy, M&A, Licensing as well as the Pharma Services and International lines of business. Prior to Ambry, he led the international distributor business at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals where he successfully built a global team and established strong relationships to grow business with international clients in Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, China and Australia. As part of this role he led the launch of a rare disease drug-device combo therapy in China through an out-licensing agreement with a local partner based in Hong Kong.

 

Prior to that Vikas was Managing Director at Cortec Group, a New York based private equity firm with $8B AUM focused on healthcare services, where he led deal sourcing, due diligence, and management of LBO investments in middle-market healthcare companies. As part of his responsibilities he partnered closely with CEOs to turnaround operations and accelerate EBITDA growth in portfolio companies. Previously Vikas held commercial and corporate strategy leadership roles at Quest Diagnostics where he most notably wrote the 2012 Strategic Plan for Quest’s incoming CEO which established the framework for the company’s restructuring. Vikas was formerly a strategy consultant with Booz & Company’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice where he advised clients including Pharma, Diagnostics, PBMs and Health Plans.

 

Vikas earned his MBA with Honors from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his MS in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Hindi.
